Oscar "Speedy" Perkins, age 78, a resident of Church Drive in Nippa, Kentucky, formally of Salyersville, Kentucky; passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Mr. Perkins was born December 3, 1936 in Paintsville, Kentucky the son of the late James Earl and Matilda Marie Litteral Perkins. Also, proceeding in death is wife, Lunia Cole Perkins; sisters, Hazel Spradlin, Vernie Perkins, Minnie Perkins, Rachel Perkins; brothers, George Perkins, James Perkins, Arvil Perkins, Garrett Perkins, Thomas Perkins; grandchildren, Angela Sparks, Rayvon Whitt, Tilitha Whitt; great grandchildren, Kenneth Brackett, Skylar Mollett; and son in law, Robert Sparks. Mr. Perkins retired from Salyersville Water Works in Salyersville, Kentucky where he was employed for twenty-three years. Speedy was also a member of the Pentecostal Faith and attended churches regularly until health diminished. Those left to mourn includes wife, Robbie Christine Perkins, whom he married February 14, 1998; daughters, Jewell Salyer and husband Michael of Salyersville, Kentucky, Linda Marshall and husband Clyde of Salyersville, Kentucky, Norma Whitt of Paintsville, Kentucky; sons, James Perkins and wife Tina of Morehead, Kentucky, Randall Perkins and wife Delilah of Salyersville, Kentucky, Martin Perkins and fiancee Melinda Crase of Salyersville, Kentucky, Curtis Perkins and wife Debbi of Salyersville, Kentucky, Daniel Perkins of Salyersville, Kentucky, James Shawhan of Paintsville, Kentucky, Brian Kistner of Paintsville, Kentucky, Christopher Kistner and fiancee Christina Grimm of Paintsville, Kentucky; sisters, Barbara Vanover of Indiana, Onedia Wright of Salyersville, Kentucky, Carol Daniels of Paintsville, Kentucky; brothers, William "Bill" Perkins of Paintsville, Kentucky, Earl Perkins of Painstville, Kentucky, Glen Perkins of Owensville, Kentucky; twenty seven grandchildren, forty great grandchildren, a host of family, and friends who love and miss him. Funeral services for Oscar "Speedy" Perkins will be conducted Monday, July 6 at 11:00 AM here from the chapel of the Salyersville Funeral Home in Salyersville, Kentucky. Interment will follow the service in the Cain Cemetery on Rockhouse Road in Salyersville, Kentucky. The family will welcome friends Saturday, July 4 after 6:00 PM, Sunday, July 5 after 12:00 PM, and anytime prior to funeral services Monday. A church memorial service will be conducted Sunday, July 5 at 7:00 PM from the chapel of the Salyersville Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Salyersville Funeral Home in Salyersville, Kentucky.
