Farmer Holliday

Farmer Holliday, age 90, a resident of Urbana, Ohio, formally of Salyersville, Kentucky, passed away Friday, July 24, 2015 in Urbana, Ohio. Mr. Holliday was born Wednesday, May 6, 1925, at McGuffey, Ohio, in Hardin County the first child of Clay and Lena Rowe Holliday. Also, proceeding in death is wife of forty-nine years, Virginia Helen Shepherd, whom he married June 23, 1945 in Chelsea, Michigan; daughter, Helen Lynn Stalder; half sister, Alma Salyer; half brothers, Blaine Carpenter, Clyde Holliday, Clarence Holliday; and brothers, Carl Holliday, Chalmer Holliday, and Kash Holliday. Mr. Holliday was a member of the Swampton United Baptist Church in Swampton, Kentucky. He was also a member of the Salyersville Masonic Lodge 769 F&AM. In 1965, he held the position as Master of the Lodge. He served his country in the United States Army until he was discharged honorably. He was employed as a mail carrier for several years until his retirement. Those left to mourn includes one daughter, Donna Proud and husband Gregory, with whom Farmer made his home for several years in Urbana, Ohio; son-in-law, Ronald Stalder of Celina, Ohio; four grandchildren, Robin Miller and husband Darren of Urbana, Ohio, Brian Proud and wife Tiffany of Canton, Ohio, John Stalder of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Joey Stalder of Celina, Ohio; four great grandchildren, Josh and Brendon Miller of Urbana, Ohio, and Kelly and Tyler Proud of Canton, Ohio, one brother, Coyne Holliday of Dexter, Michigan. He will also be missed by sisters and brother-in-laws, Alene Allen, Alma Holliday, Paul and Oma Risner, Melvin Rudd and Mary Ann Johnson, and a host of family. Funeral services for Farmer Holliday will be conducted Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of the Salyersville Funeral Home in Salyersville, Kentucky. Clergy Darrell Back will be delivering comforting words on the day of service. Interment will follow the service in the Shepherd Cemetery in Royalton, Kentucky. The family will welcome friends Tuesday, July 28 after 6:00 PM at the funeral home and anytime Wednesday, July 29 prior to the funeral service. Church St., Salyersville, Kentucky 41465 Arrangements are under the direction of the Salyersville Funeral Home in Salyersville, Kentucky.
